Stillleben A40 (Still Life A40)

Today I walked from my parents' place in Mülheim to the train station in Essen - on the A40 Autobahn. They closed off a good chunk of highway and set up a 60km long picnic table where people could bring their own food and have a picnic on one side, while the other direction was open to bicyclists and rollerbladers. I hear the whole thing took three years to organize... a logistical monster. It was damned cool. Though instead of the expected 1 million people 3 million came, so at times they had to restrict pedestrian access to the lanes and there were quite a few traffic jams on both sides. Still, the mood was great. Here's a pic my dad took today:

I know! I really wanted to leave the night before because I still have so much work to do, and my dad was like, what, you want to miss The Event? And I'm like, what event?
