(no subject)

I finished inking page 5 of the comic... formerly known as page 4, but I fixed the page breaks and the whole thing is now six pages long. The colouring will have to wait till monday, since the copy shops aren't open on public holidays. And I still colour the dinosaur way, where I copy the drawing on watercolour paper and then colour it with, well, watercolours. What is this thing 'Photoshop' you speak of? ;o)

(Speaking of the devil, I just bought a copy of photoshop 6 on ebay. Ridiculously cheap, just 50 Euro. I hope there's no catch, but the offer sounded okay.)

Here's the page as it is now... unfinished and completely out of order, needless to say. The rough pencils for pages four and six are done as well, so maybe I can get the inks for those finished over the weekend.

While I was scanning this page I saw half a dozen more things to fix, but anyway:

Brilliant.
Incidentally, I knew a comic artist once, Garry Leach (Axel Pressbutton, Miracleman, etc). As far as I remember, he used felt pens for coloring. I think he may have used a particular type, though.

I used Copic and Tria markers (felt pens) for a while. They have their advantages but I went back to watercolours after a while. First of all, markers are ridiculously expensive - and not just the pens themselves, but also the refillers. They're also quite tricky to scan; unless it's done very carefully, the artwork can easily lose its brilliance. And the artwork isn't UV-resistant, which means you can't sell the original or hang it on your wall.

You can get some cool effects with markers, though. I like to use them for quick sketches, vignettes and cartoons, stuff like that.

There're days when you should just stay in bed, eh. Hey, at least he gets his nose back in the end (I insisted on a happy ending!)

OMG!!

I love your comic! I laughed my ass off, and there isn't any text!! :)
Just to see Angle's face, oh, oh, dear...

You are so talented and wonderful! I can't believe what I've been missing when I didn't know you have a LJ.

Glad you like! In case you haven't read the script, you can find it along with the first page (that one complete with colours and dialogue) in an older post here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/astridv/14539.html

Outstanding! How gorgeous. I can't wait to see it colored.

You are such a good illustrator.

Thanks. I'm really happy that you like it, having seen some of the stuff you drew. :)

Colouring the underground scenes should be interesting. I picked this page first because I felt like drawing dark, dripping and dingy sewers for a change.
