Yaaaaahhhwn.....

I worked till exactly 5:45am yesterday... which means I beat my personal record, yay. :o) Really an insane thing to do, but I wanted to finish that last page of the book I was working on. After two days trying to get rid of that thrice-cursed spyware and getting NOWHERE, I needed to accomplish something. Either that or kill someone. Yesterday was an interesting combination of screaming obscenities at my computer, and colouring happy pictures.

If I could at least download anti-spyware... but every time I try to download any kind of program or zip file, it hijacks my browers again and redirects it to their home site, (or rather tries to, since I blocked that). And even resetting the system to an earlier date won't work since I've had an earlier, less nasty infection of the spyware (omegasearch) for months and months. These people have been at it for almost two years, from what I read. How come no one has sued their asses of by now?

Anyway, backups of all files are made, as soon as the latest ats.nolimits episode is safely printed, I'm gonna make tabula rasa. Die, scum, die. And I've learned my lesson - surfing with IE is really the equivalent of a sign pointing: Weak spot here!

I see that [livejournal.com profile] johnkerry04 have new links about the state of the election investigation. At least things are still happening. Have scanned the latest article, looks interesting...but I need to be more awake to read and process that... the higher brain functions haven't quite kicked in.

Does that mean we get a chance to vote? And, more importantly, does our vote count?

Thanks for the offer :). But that's okay... I could download them at a friend's computer and install it from CD, and I have considered trying that - just, the thing is: I read that the later versions of lop won't even let you run Hijack this and CWShredder. So I figure, if that thing won't even let me get to the download, chances are that once I finally got them installed, I'll run against another door. So then you'll have to first find a program that enables you to run the other programs. It's insane. It's been like this all week, I work my way around one tiny problem and the thing counters immediately.

The good thing is that I never managed to sell my old computer. No one wanted it, and it's a really nice Pentium II. *clings to old compi*. So I've reactivated that one, and I'm in the process of making it air-, water-, and bugtight. Once I got that running, I'll wipe the other one clean. Everybody I talked to agreed that that was the best solution. And they also said that the only way to keep you data safe is to use two computers, one of which never gets connected to the web. *pets old compi some more*

I'm gonna lose all my emails, that's the sucky part. I tried to save the most important ones; if I need some archive info I'll holler in your direction.

I haven't been on YIM in ages and it's not working now, but once the new system is up and running, maybe we can chat for a bit...:o)
