The book is finished. I'm not exactly sure how I did it this fast... last few days were a bit of a blur... but it's done. This would be the time for a primal scream or something like that, but everybody in the house is already asleep and probably wouldn't appreciate it. I'll pour myself a big glass of wine and perform the ritual Cleaning Of The Desk instead. And then I can finally get back to
tipper_green's Thermopylae. Yay, I have time for longfic again. :O)

Ha. Worry not... such nuances are completely beyond me and will be for a long time to come. :) I vaguely remember learning 'otsukaresama' but I don't remember the exact context. 私は仕事を終えて、日本語の練習のために時間がやっとあるのだ!明日から勉強するつもりよ!

あのう。。。もうちょっと質問がある。^_^ 「それはよかった」と言う意味はなに?
no subject
つまり…
Explanations are hard to do in Japanese! ^^;; But the "それ" means "that" - in this case referring back to your sentence. And "よかった" is the past tense of いい. So the idea was to write something that translates as "That's good," but because you getting time to study is something that's already happened I went with "That was good". Especially since the Japanese seem to use "よかった" as a general expression of relief/enthusiasm: more like "Oh, I'm glad to hear that!" than just "That is good!".
Hopefully this makes sense? And as always, I could be wrong...! Thanks for asking, though - I'm glad if I can be of help! \o/

Yeah, I noticed that. Ah, I need to learn more of these little phrases of everyday Japanese. I'm gonna look around a bit if there's maybe a handy website for those.
