on comics, fanart, and writer's block. Also, fic rec!
I was riding my bike today, bemoaning the lack of Keller fanfic, thinking, If so few people want to write the kind of story I'd like to read, I'll end up having to write it myself. And dammit, I'm not a writer. I do comics. [pause] Hey! I could do a comic with her! <-- epiphany
I could do anything! Maybe some Jennifer&Teyla girl power thing. Or some nice Rodney/Keller UST. Or I could do some snarky Sam/Rodney (my secret OTP). So what if only five people want to read that... I want to read it! All these possibilities... And BAM, my motivation was back. Just like that. Still have a bunch of other stuff I want/have to do first (like today: it's 8pm and the page is still empty, woe...) but the idea, I like it. I'll pet it and feed it and see if it grows into something. Like, a mini-comic. Something I could do in a month or two.And maybe I can seduce someone into doing the actual writing part.
It's weird, these past few days my flist has been full of posts about battling writer's block (and coming out victorious for the most part, from the sound of it :o) Maybe it's a seasonal thing?
Also of the good: I now know how I want to color my sticksandsnark pic. That Photoshop color scheme idea was a bust, though... how can you guys paint with that program and make it look so good??? I have a five-year old copy of Painter that came with my scanner, that I never installed; I wonder if I should try to get that up and running.

Sam/Rodney; PG; Spoilers: Post SG1 Road Not Taken; 2,800 words
Summary:. Sam and Rodney attend a conference on Earth. Snark ensues.
Five hours into the conference and forty-five minutes into the main event, and so far everything had been ridiculous and Dr. Moran had only revealed that he’d seen a few episodes of Wormhole Xtreme and owned a mixer.
Good Sam/Rodney fic is so hard to find that I'm even happier when I stumble over something like this. They way they're written here is just what I love about the two: the gratuitous snark covering up a deep underlying affection. I wish there was more fic in that vein.

Now I want to do all of the above. :D I need a matter bridge into a parallel universe from where I can suck some extra time.
