I'm still buried under that heap of work... but the good news is that I dug my way halfway through. Seven more weeks to go. The bad news is that I caught the roommate's cold last week, and had to work through it which just sucked. Also had to postpone the visit to my dad's this weekend, which also sucks; fortunately he was very understanding. Doesn't really make much sense to carry that bug further around. The upside is that instead of sitting on a train, I suddenly had a whole day to myself, so I spent the whole afternoon lying on my bed and watching tv. Um. American Idol. (I can't help it, I got hooked onto the show after we met those folks in San Diego who went to audition. Guilty pleasure.)

Eh, what's with the sudden outburst of Kellerhate on the story/genrefinders comms? I thought by getting rid of [livejournal.com profile] mckay_sheppard I finally filtered that stuff out. Maybe just coincidence. I hope... those are comms I definitely don't want to defriend; I'm getting way too much entertainment out of them. But man, when I read storyfinders I expect to see something like "I'm looking for this fic," not "My thoughts on Keller, let me show you them." I really, really, don't care to hear them. :P

My brain's too mushy to write a decent fic rec (no headache though, yay :). But to up the value of this post, a quick linkage (via [livejournal.com profile] monanotlisa):Vampires and the Women Who Love Them by [livejournal.com profile] st_salieri -- What would happen if Buffy Summers, Bella Swan and Sookie Stackhouse sat down for a little chat with an inquisitive talk show host?

Yeah, storyfinder comms aren't really a good place for discussion. Reading that I kept thinking that nobody ever asks for stories that focus on how Rodney is obviously clueless about physics and engineering no matter what the series claims, because all the technobabble isn't real science and doesn't hold up to what a fifth grader knows about physics. Or how Sheppard is a bad soldier because the military procedures are nothing of the sort. I mean seriously. The medicine and practices are wonky sometimes, because they are there for the SGA-type of not-hard SF, you just have to suspend disbelief, the whole series totally collapses once you try to hold characteres to any realistic standards.

Yeah, that's what I wanted to comment with, but couldn't, because it's not a bloody discussion community.

Or how Carson didn't have a clue about medicine either, because the writers don't have a clue about medicine. Strange how it didn't bother anyone when it was Carson getting the medical facts wrong.

Of course, suspension of disbelief doesn't work when the character in question has dared to come between the OTP. And that's what it boils down to.
