fic rec [SGA]: The Hard Prayer by rheanna27
The Hard Prayer by
rheanna27
McShep; PG-13, AU, apocafic, 30,500 words
Summary: A year after the end of the world, John meets another survivor.
I don't even know how to describe this fic without bursting into superlatives. Rheanna paints a post-apocalyptic landscape so bleak and real... you can't help but get pulled in. The plot is great, the prose clear and evocative. And her characterization of John and Rodney is amazing... both damaged, traumatized, after a year of solitude. And if this scenario sounds depressing - this story is really not! It is the right balance of darker and lighter moments, and just a really gripping read.
(Just posting about this story, I want to grab it and re-read parts. Alas, the roommate has it right now...)

workliteratureart! I really want to leave feedback on the author's LJ but I'm still struggling for words to express my excitement and enthusiasm over her story. I'm just lacking the appropriate words. And you're completely right, it's not really depressing because, the way they just *accept* each other as damaged as they are, it's totally a story about hanging on, about surviving, about "making it". :-) I *love* it!no subject
What, lacking the appropriate words! There are your words, right there! :)
