fandom meme

gakked from [livejournal.com profile] icarusancalion

The one who seduced you and fucked you over and broke your heart in a million pieces and laughed about it: I'd say Bones... except I never was invested enough in the first place.

The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp in the sheets: Angel

The mysterious dark gothy one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3 a.m. at weird coffeehouses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized he really was fucking crazy: Bones

The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor, and whom you'd still really like to fuck again although you're relieved he doesn't actually live in town: Supernatural

The steady: Stargate Atlantis

The one you repeatedly cheat on your steady with: I don't cheat on my fandoms. I'm so fandom-monogamous, it's ridiculous.

The alluring stranger whom you've flirted with at parties but have never gotten really serious with: SG-1

The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with but ultimately you're just good buddies 'cause the friendship is there but the chemistry ain't: NCIS

The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool guy except it's never really gone anywhere: Dr. Who

The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at him and thinking, "Him? How the hell did he land all these cool babes?": Merlin

The one your friend has fallen for like a ton of bricks and whom she keeps babbling to you about on the phone for hours, and you'd be happy for her except you just know it's going to end badly: Bones

Merlin, ha ha ha! Yeah, it's crack, pure and simple. I haven't been able to resist. Might snag this when I have the time.

Heh. I hope you do. I'm actually curious how others fill this one out.

Merlin: I have the first four eps lying around here somewhere, unwatched. Someone brought a CD over. I just... I'm not really looking for another show to get into, at all.

Ha! Okay, that's a really cool meme. :D

Yeah, this one's fun. And most of these descriptions are weirdly accurate.

Regarding NCIS...

I finally got around to watching a couple complete episodes the past few weeks.

It did nothing for me whatsoever. Yes, they have some superficially interesting characters but they don't do anything with them.
In terms of character interactions and plot, with the way the thing was spastically edited, the stories felt like nothing more than series of sound-bites, snapshots, strung together. Individually sorta interesting, but not coming together to from a whole worth a damn.

IMO it makes the annoyingly uneven Bones look pretty good by comparison -- at least they know how to slow down every so often and have real conversations.

Back to NCIS, the presumably studly guy (of the two younger males) who in clunky fashion spars with the tough female (Israeli?) agent, is a truly annoying character. He's cocky, but rather than in an endearing, or ironic, or even somewhat justified-by-his-prowess manner -- he comes across as relatively useless, almost a bufoon. Why is he on this crack team?

Yeah, the editing on NCIS takes some getting used to. It never bothered me enough to detract from the story, but in the beginning I couldn't help notice the rather frantic cuts... editing shouldn't be noticeable at all. But I guess I've mostly gotten used to it. Actually when I started watching, it was the soundtrack that bothered me and kept tearing me out of the story.

Mmh. Got to disagree. Before Bones mid-season three, I'd have agreed wholeheartedly. But when Bones screws up, they really don't do it halfway. I'm not just talking about the ridiculous Zack storyline; actually it was Booth's characterization that drove me away even before the Zack-as-apprentice reveal. (And I don't have to mention Max to you, I guess. ;)

LOL. My roommate would agree. With Tony, it's apparently either love him or hate him. I suppose I like him largely thanks to some fanfic I read early on which expands on his canon characterization in a logical way, and gives him more depth. It's there, but you kind of have to squint to see it...

I forgot to add, my favorite new TV shows are The Sons of Anarchy for gritty drama with a killer cast, and The Mentalist for something a bit more popcorn.

HEE! THis has to be the greatest fandom meme ever.

The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor, and whom you'd still really like to fuck again although you're relieved he doesn't actually live in town: Supernatural

I've heard SPN described as getting roofied so this made me laugh. A lot.

The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at him and thinking, "Him? How the hell did he land all these cool babes?": Merlin

Ditto. It's everywhere.
