Reichskristallnacht, the night of massive Nazi pogroms that ended with thousands of Jews deported or killed and thousands of synagogues, businessess, and homes destroyed. November 9 is also the anniversary of the Berlin wall coming down. It is hard to believe that those two events are only 50 years apart.
What I hadn't even realized was that today also sees the anniversary of the foundation of the Weimar republic, the first, failed coup by the Nazis, and a failed assassination attempt on Hitler's life.
