Yesterday I finally watched Thoughtcrimes, starring Navi Rawat (Dana the vampire slayer from 'Angel') and Joe Flanigan.
koalathebear rec'd that movie a while back and I always thought it sounded interesting, but I didn't expect it to be this good! Why is this movie so little known? The plot is good, Rawat is perfect for the role of the telepath overwhelmed by her gift, Joe is utterly lovable as the NSA agent and the two have fantastic chemistry. (He's got more chemistry with her than with all the women on Atlantis combined.) The only downside I could find is that now I'd like to see more of it. Really, this watches like the pilot for a tv show... and I'd watch that show!
I wanted to *coughuploadcough* to share the squee, but Megaupload has completely stopped working for me. My computer freezes almost to a complete halt whenever I try to upload something there. Can anyone recommend a good alternative?

Rodney/Jennifer; PG; Post ep for The Shrine; 1,800 words
Summary: “What about you and John? Rodney, I’d have to be blind not to—not to—you know.”
Quite amazing character/relationship piece that managed to help me sort out my feelings after watching the episode. I adopted her take on it into my personal canon. The way she writes the tangled emotions and relationships feels absolutely believable.

tipper_green posts In Defense (Again) of Jennifer Keller in The Shrine, in response to those who say she was acting unprofessionally/unethically/selfishly. Because really, there's no basis for that statement.
In other news, the weather sucks. But one of the online weather sites promised a sunny Saturday and I'm choosing to believe them. I want to go rollerblading, dammit. Okay, the rain has at least stopped so theoretically I could, but it's just more fun in sunny weather.
My taxes are due at the end of the month. I still haven't started. But, well, traditionally I do my taxes the night before the deadline. I inked my
livelongnmarry piece instead, which was definitely more fun. Maybe elves will come overnight to take care of the taxes.

Without family to override, and if the patient is without comprehension, it is the doctor that decides. Keller was completely correct – which is also why they *could not override her*. They didn’t have the right. It wasn’t proprietary—this was a doctor with a patient. As a professional myself, you always put your client’s needs over the needs of others, even their family. That’s just how it works.I think it's an interesting discussion.

Joe did mention at a convention panel that he had enjoyed doing the pilot - that the character was definitely one he would've enjoyed playing again

In conclusion: JFlan = pretty

I really like his Thoughtcrimes character, he's an interesting combination of competent and insecure. Really quite different from Sheppard.
I think Rawat and Flanigan could've carried a series. But yeah, OTOH no Flanigan on Atlantis, that would've been WRONG. I guess there's no way there to have our cake and eat it too.

actually did you hear that they had actually signed Browder to play Sheppard but Browder had a previous commitment cause a scheduling conflict and therefore they audition Joe for the part and frankly I don't think Browder would have done the character justice and I cannot see the series being same or perhaps not even making it past a season or two with him as Sheppard

and frankly I don't think Browder would have done the character justice
Right. I can't imagine Ben Browder as John Sheppard at all. Actually I'm pretty meh about him in general... of all the SG-1 characters, he's the one I'm least interested in it, he feels a bit bland.

Initially I wasn't taken with JFlan as Sheppard; he seemed just too "California pretty boy" to me... But now he's my favourite character in SGA, period.

Oh. Well, that makes sense - I think it works really well as a pilot. Hard to believe it didn't get picked up... I mean, it really has potential. But yeah, if this show had been greenlit, we wouldn't have gotten Flanigan's Shep.
The obvious solution is to find a reality in the multiverse where that show got made, and import it into our own universe. *nods*

I am also putting off a tax thing that needs done before the end of September. Boo taxes. I firmly believe in tax elves, yes.

siiigh. Maybe I should just do them today to get it over with. I still have to run them by an accountant, too, to fill out that one form that's so complex that you need a degree in finances and special software for it. >_<

Another great movie with Joe Flanigan is Farewell to Harry. Sweet story, wonderful soundtrack and Joe's looks are too distracting for his own good. I don't understand why it got so little press. :)

I know! Summer! Finally! Oh man!

It really is. I plan to make my housemates watch it. Pity I couldn't get this upload to work.

I feel cheated out of a summer this year. Thought at least you could say it's not as rotten as last year.

OTOH, as is already said, if "Thoughtcrimes" would have gotten picked up - no John Sheppard as we know him and *that* would have been a big loss. :-)

I liked it so much I purchased the DVD from amazon.co.uk - - thank god for universal dvd players - so I can pop the DVD in and watch Joe in 'thoughtcrimes' in the comfort of my bedroom
have you ever seen Joe in his 4 episodes of 'Providence'? frankly I watched a bit of the series (eps in syndication both before and after his appearance(s)) and it was okay - but I really really liked his Dr. David Marcus - cause he was human - not perfect, not all knowing, had a few 'secrets', etc. but overall a really good guy -- unfortunately the character was written as a short term story arc (4 eps) and the way they wrote his character out to put it frankly SUCKED - by the end of his last ep I was ready to slap the female lead up the side of the head and would've gladly followed Joe's character into his own series!
