I'm back

Hi flist, I'm back from California and Comic Con. *waves* Great trip all around. Right now I'm semi-comatose from jet lag and total lack of sleep last night, so I shall save the picspam and stuff for tomorrow.

Just a quick preview of an incomplete fanart-to-be that I drew at the airport and on the plane today. Total stream of consciousness, no particular story; I just aimlessly started drawing and this image popped up. The inking's mostly done. I have to add Sheppard's and McKay's faces and their weapons, since I had no picture reference except my previous sketches. (And I need at least half a dozen screencaps if I hope to get Rodney right... don't look for likeness yet.)

Um, that guy in second sketch is not fan art related... just some random well-built, half-nekkid warrior. Heh.

I think I'll draw more of Ronon next, once I'm done coloring this batch. (I got one more half-finished Mc/Shep gen scene that I drew in line at comic con. :)

I'll try to catch up on LJ now. If you've posted something in the past two weeks that you think I'd be interested in, drop a link, maybe?

Woah, great! It looks like an "Aliens made us do it" scenario. :)

I love it.

BTW, a stupid question: did you go to Comic Con 'privately' or did your company (or whatever) pay you to go? I can't imagine flying over there just for fun.

I'm freelancing for several different publishers, and they're all in kids' books which don't have much of a presence at that con. So no, I didn't get paid to go, but the flight and the entire time I spent in SD are tax-deductable, which makes it a pretty sweet deal.

Comic Con is one of those happy things where you combine job and fun. You can never do too much networking in this business. But really, it was for fun. CC is so much more entertaining than the book fair in Frankfurt, which is all serious business.

Yeah, that's a lot better than nothing!

That's ideal. I know I wold enjoy it a lot, too.

I wouldn't even dream of going there. *yawn*

But Comic Con sounds like all around fun.
