Two Vid recs (BtVS/AtS and general fandom)

I'm still not around much, I was crazy busy with work... but I must delurk quickly to rec these two vids, which are both amazing:

(found by way of [livejournal.com profile] lostakasha:) Us by [livejournal.com profile] lim
Doesn't matter which fandom you're in... this vid's about all of us, this community and the stories that bring it together. If we're living in a den of thieves, I wouldn't want it any other way. :)
The vid is visually fascinating, too; I haven't seen anything quite like this before. Form follows function: the style and effects are perfectly chosen to convey the message... bypassing the left side of the brain and going straight to the core.
(Or, just quoting my immediate reaction: "Wow!")

(by way of [livejournal.com profile] yhlee:) Living Dead Girl by [livejournal.com profile] bradcpu
A powerful, dynamic, and original Faith study. I've seen half a dozen Faith character studies, this one is my new favorite. Great choice of song!

I also have a bunch of fic to rec, but I want to finish the comic first, at least the inking part. Stuff kept getting in the way but I *think* I have the whole weekend, finally. I have to ink only two more pages, and color four. I think I owe at least a dozen people comment replies or feedback... maybe I can catch up over the next few days.

I also need to start sketching a book about [topseekrittopic], but I just spent all afternoon in the city trying to find books or other reading material on [topseekrittopic], without any success... so I'll have to order some books from Amazon and wait at least until Monday before they get here and I can start to do proper research. Which is fine, because it's just the excuse I needed to get back to Yoon's and my fan comic. Of course I could also do research on the internet...

[eta: bahaha, German speakers, check this out for lolz (just seen on amazon.de): Serenity. Those Left Behind (Das Rechnungswesen der kaufmännischen Betriebe)]

He. And you. I read your post as I was driving by my flist. Man, I did get quite a bit of work out of the way but compared to you, I'm still the laziest slob that ever slobbed. *g*

(I still have to renew my passport in time for comic-con, btw... must not forget that.)

Both of the vids are really really good.

I saw that Bradcpu wrote, that he thought that you could displace Faith with Buffy in the narrative, and it would still work. I kind of agree with that.

Eek! Don't forget! Shall we enter into a nagging pact? ;)

It's a deal. So what do you need nagging about? :)

It's still plenty of time for the passport renewal. I checked, it takes about three weeks. At the moment I'm kinda, ahem, waiting for my hair to grow out a bit, as I cut it last week and cut off too much for my taste. I need a new picture before I can get a passport. Pic's going to turn out crappy no matter what, but at least I won't have too-short hair on it.

If you could nag me in a few weeks' time, in case I forgot, that'd be great.

Yes, all the parallels he shows are fascinating. Stuff like that makes me watch the shows with a fresh perspective. And there's so much going on, you can find a new aspect with each viewing. Also, I can be pretty dense when it comes to vids so repeated viewings are necessary to even scratch the surface. ;)

And I have no words how much I love 'Us'. I must have watched it a dozen times now. It's rare that I understand a vid on such a visceral level right from the start. It was downright emotional experience to watch it. I have a feeling I'll make all my friends watch these two, particularly 'Us'. (But I guess the only one who'll properly appreciate it is my one friend who's also into fic. Not sure such a meta vid can even work if you're lacking the whole context.)

It's a deal.

After some thought, I realized that I need nagging about exercise. I've really gone down the tubes. D:
