Just in case you found the fanfic debate on Scalzi's blog too classy and coherent, Goldberg jumps into the fray to provide wanky relief.

It started rather slow, this one, but it has picked up and has become entertaining, if you're into that kind of thing. Highlights: after the appearance of young Kyler*, who defended fanfic so badly that fic writers everywhere cringed and speculated on his potential sockpuppetness - enter Richard. Just to give the antific brigade their own moment of "Get off my side, you make my side look stupid," he doesn't even bother with arguments and gets right to the ad hominems. I almost wanna think he's a sock because he's so over the top. But his email googles. He's got his own blog and everything. [eta: Now he comments as Rick the Prick. No argument there.]

There's also a sub-thread about the difference between legality and ethics. I think so far the other side thinks there is none. Or something. I may be reading it wrong, they don't make that much sense.

Mostly I made this post so I can show off this shiny new icon that [livejournal.com profile] yhlee made. :)
