I finished the last of the large pages of project no.2 this afternoon. ... okay, somehow I feel that this statement needs a soundtrack. Something pompous, by John Williams maybe.
Two more days of drawing the remaining details, then that project should be ready to be handed in, half a week before the deadline. [Harps play, Angels sing*] (*but not our Angel)

Don't know about you other artists out there, but I find colouring the most demanding part of the work. Sketching is more fun, less like work. I always feel mentally exhausted after a day of colouring; it takes so much energy to keep up the necessary level of concentration. Seeing the finished pages makes up for it though.

And, I'm immensely grateful for my Yoga and Pilates classes. With the weather being too crappy to go running or rollerblading, I'm pretty sure those are what kept me sane. Because I'm feeling really pretty good in spite of the insane work hours (70-80 hour weeks, blah). Did I mention I love that gym? Having a place where you can work out, and sauna, and just get out of the house and switch off for a few hours, it's priceless. (I'm sounding like a credit card commercial. But it is!). And Pilates looks like nothing, but it's really effective for building up that inner, stabilizing musculature.. I just tried it out of curiosity because all classes are included in the price, but I stuck with it.

Thanks to whoever nominated my Smile Time comic for the BSFA awards. Not like it stood a chance but still... so cool. Hee.

Thought this tidmit might interest the Buffy fans... Alyson Hannigan was recently featured on Hanzismatter. She's one of the lucky ones whose kanji tatoo actually says what it's supposed to say. (Doesn't Booth (or Boreanaz) have a kanji tatoo on his wrist? Hm. Must pay more attention next time I watch.)

Bones fic recs? Two-week hiatus, I want my fix! Little interest in shipper fic, none in PWP, need proper punctuation, and avoid WIPs... all that makes it not easier to find good reading material.

Hunting for fics on ffn (for lack of other hunting grounds), I noticed that Supernatural has produced about ten times more fic than Bones. I mean, I was mulling over basic plot ideas in my head, and... I see Supernatural plot bunnies hop by instead. There's a show that just begs to be fanfic'd. I guess the more removed from reality a show gets, the easier it is to write for. Easier to come up with a creepy ghost than write a believable procedural plot and try to match the forensic technobabble on Bones. Not only can't I write the technobabble - I wouldn't even know how to fake the technobabble.

So, I'm still looking for another long casefile like [livejournal.com profile] lisaroquin's "The Evil That Men Do". In the meantime, I went ahead and ordered the upcoming tie-in novel, Buried deep. It's based on the show, unlike Reichs' novel series. I was disappointed by most of the Angel tie-ins, but since Kathy Reichs co-authored, I kinda have hopes that this one will be true to the show.
