Hawk/Black Widow novel...
Via
be_compromised: Heroes & Heartbreakers posted a decent-sized excerpt from "Breakout", a New Avengers prose novel about Hawkeye and Black Widow's backstory (yay) which seems to blend movie and comicsverse.
Okay, I'm of course wary of tie-ins/profic because I've read my share of awful ones (Oh Buffy. Oh X-Files! Oh!) But OTOH I've also read a number of good, even brilliant ones.
I only skimmed the first two chapters but I liked what I read, so I pre-ordered it. Fingers crossed. Hardcover, putting a bit of a strain on my budget as I'm on sabbatical and not supposed to throw my money around. But apart from really wanting to read the thing, I also wanna do my part in sending a signal to TPTB that there is an audience for Black Widow and Hawkeye out there. We exist, yo! (Still bitter they packpedaled on that movie.)
I just read that AO3 is going to reopen invite requests; members will be able to request up to 10 invite codes.

I like my books softcover, not just because of the price but also because it's more comfy to hold in one hand. I don't know if I could read a book on a screen though I hear it's not unpleasant on the eyes.
