Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol / (anyone happen to have recs?)
The other day there was a secret on fandomsecrets that told me I'm not the only one who was pleasantly surprised by that movie. I watched it because I kept seeing all those Widow/Hawk vids that used Ghost Protocol footage that made it look like a pretty fun movie and now that I watched it: Yep, it's a hell of a lot of fun. I was really suprised how much I liked it. I expected, I dunno, some car-chase-and-explosion-heavy dumb kind of action flick, I guess, but the plot is actually very decent and it's got a nice sense of humor. (And Jeremy Renner is really pretty great in it, and kind of cute, even though I couldn't fit his character into my headcanon for Hawkeye like I was hoping.)
I liked it so much that I went to Amazon and bought the DVD and then I watched it again. And, um, ordered the previous three (10 Euro for three movies, good deal too). I put this movie in the same category as Thoughtcrimes... another one I unexpectedly ended up liking so much that I'm still reading fic for it here and there.
So, yeah, fic... does anyone, by any chance, have recs for MI4? I prefer gen and casefic, but at this point I'm pretty open to anything as long as Brandt is in it.

Safety net Okay, I'm just going to admit at htis point that I'm looking for a specific story, dammit and can't find it, but I've been throwing the ones I remembera s being pretty good over my shoulder as I root through the drawer. This one hit the button installed by Simon Pegg's face as he repeats, "And I'll catch you" when they're on the jet.
More than Words. Still not the one I'm looking for (actually two) but hot scene with bonus no-longer-pining.
Aha! Found it. But then again so are you case file and cuter than words can say.
And hang on there's one more, with Will being over-committed and Ethan realizing he's left a man behind but I can't seem to find it. Drat.
And this one doesn't make sense unless you've also seen Red, with Helen Mirren and Bruce Willis, but if you have, you'll grin. I think familiarity with both movies is required, though.

I'll freely admit that neither of us particularly like Tom Cruise, but my husband loves Simon Pegg and I've got a thing for Renner, so while we deliberately avoided the movie in the theaters, we bought the DVD on sale and have watched it an embarassing number of times at home. 8-)
there are also a bunch of sort, very sexy one shots with Brandt / Hunt, but those are more nibbles.
And the one with over-worked Brandt hits kind of an id-spot for me (competence kink crossed with protective kink. I was doomed from the beginning) so no one else may go Eeee! at quite the same pitch, but I'll share it if my brain kicks in (I have a lot of trouble with titles and author names, so I really respect folks who can keep track.)

They really are!
I don't like Cruise for his Scientology affiliation but apart from that I always thought he's a good actor - my first exposure to him was Born On The 4th Of July, and he was really good in that. Fortunately, in his case I have no problem compartmentalizing. I liked him as Hunt, one's gotta admit he's in darn good shape (especially considering he's 50) so the action hero thing worked for me.
