I was being good today. Didn't procrastinate at all... at least not online. Did some housecleaning, finished one shiny page of inks, went rollerblading without getting rained upon for once (yes, it does need extra mentioning, grmbl), and watched 'Sleep Tight'/'Forgiving' with my friends, one of them unspoiled. For some reason watching the show with someone who doesn't know the plot yet is a bit like watching it for the first time. Damn, I'm reminded why Forgiving is one of my favourite episodes. The performances alone...

Before I sign off, here's a link from my bookmarks... I'd been meaning to share it: A Radio Open Source show on fanfic. The link to the mp3 is right at the top of the page. Participants are fanfic/profic writer Naomi Novik, fanfic writer/academic Francesca Coppa , IP lawyer Rebecca Tushnet, and writer Lee Goldberg who is there to argue against fanfic. (He actually comes across as a decent guy - pity he had to go and bash Novik on his blog afterwards, ruined the impression).

It's an interesting program even though it doesn't offer much new information to anyone familiar with fandom. Still, fun to listen to. The host is apparently very open to the idea of fanfic. It's kind of amusing to hear him try to squeeze some juicy recs out of the fan writers.

You know what, interesting(/wanky) as the fanfic debate is, reading all the meta has taken away so much online time that I've read virtually no fanfic for two months. Oh irony.

Okay, the vacation and the job also got in the way. Work on the new Better Buffy Fics auto-archive is still not finished. Sigh. No end in sight there. I'm only on page 195 of 'Harry Potter to Azkaban no shuujin', and if I stick to my original plan to finish that book first... there won't be any fanfic in my near future. I need better time management. It's all fandom_wank's fault, really.

Yes!!! That's what i always say. This is why a show as good as Joss' shows can remain fresh forever. You can always make someone else watch it, while you sit there and watch the emotions play on their face when bad things happen to Wesley.

Works like a charm.

I was thrilled when I showed my friend City Of, and got her hooked right away. We've been watching the show chronologially since then.

Exactly.
