Rec of the day

I found another interesting vid on home bouldering... this guy here hasn't attached any holds to the ceiling, he's just using what's already there, meaning, door frames and blank walls. (Gives one ideas, huh. But I think our flat is woefully underequipped when it comes to doorframes.)

Okay, I honestly don't know how many people here are interested in stuff like this but I think it's at least a handful, and anyway I've had a cold all week (f*€&ing airplane air conditioning §%!) so I couldn't go climbing in ages and I'm getting frustrated so I gotta live vicariously through others. Sigh.

Btw... is anyone here still interested in SGA recs? I'm mostly reccing Leverage these days because that's where my fannish id has decided to make its home, but I still have a folder with SGA stories which I could throw in here and there. Just, lots of people seem to have moved on as well. And it's been so long since I've read those fics that I'd have to post the recs mostly without comment beyond story info and summary, because I might not even remember the details of each one, or why I bookmarked them.

Not all of us have moved on from SGA! And I do love your recs....

I tend to go through cycles with my older fandoms, where once they aren't my primary fandom anymore I have phases when I almost don't read them at all, and then at some point come back and catch up to read a bunch on a binge. I've gone through on/off thing with HP, LOTR, X-Files, Supernatural... SGA for me is currently mostly "off" so in the whole year so far I've only read maybe a dozen SGA stories, but I still read recced things if they look interesting, and always things that match with my kinks (mostly but not necessarily sexual, e.g. if someone recced to me a cool werewolf SGA story I haven't read for example I'd definitely go there).

Hah. Yeah, I can imagine. I climbed across a few door frames just now because I'm going slightly nuts, and I'm not even stuck inside the house. 2 days indoors, that sounds nasty. Even more so for kids. Hope you're gonna be alright.

Cool. I think I'll just link some stuff without worrying about coming up with in-depth descriptions. I'm still reading SGA myself, just considerably less than I used to.

Yeah, I have similar habits. I still read in my older fandoms when something pops up on my radar. But I found that with SGA it's a lot harder for new fic to fit my story kinks... and I'm not sure if that's because my story kinks have changed, or because the fic that's written these days is different. Probably more the fact that if you've read hundreds of stories, it's harder to find one that hasn't been told yet. I read a few fics that were solid but didn't get me involved the way they would have if I'd read them three years ago. (The fact that I like Jennifer doesn't help.)

But there was one story in particular in this year's genficathon, I think, that I LOVED because it said "screw you" to all the known fanfic tropes and did something unexpected, and I was like, wow. While I read that fic, my passion for the fandom was back on.

Recently I've been in an Angel and Buffy kind of mood. Maybe I should go look what that fandom has produced in recent years...

Leverage is fun. It's like a cross between The A-Team and Ocean's Eleven (only with considerably more interesting characters, imho).
