I got new shoes!
Yesterday I went on a shopping spree. (Haha, I found a great way to freak people out: I just had to say "I'm meeting a friend to go shoe shopping" and everyone would stare at me like they suspected I'm a pod person.) But it's true, I went shopping for shoes and got
My new Five Fingers shoes - where every toe gets its own place. I can't wait to take them for a spin. I've already walked around in them for a while and they feel very nice indeed; as close as you get to walking barefoot (sweatier, though, alas). Tomorrow, weather permitting, I'm gonna take them for a run and see how that works. I've always done a lot of walking around barefoot which is handy; you gotta roll your feet differently than when wearing regular running shoes, otherwise they can be counterproductive. But when done right, lots of runners swear by running barefoot. I read about it a while back and had been meaning to try it ever since. Actually have been walking barefoot a lot in order to prepare my feet for it; I hadn't even heard of these shoes until
naye posted about them the other day.
And while on the topic of shopping, I ordered me a shiny bouldering mat because I've been more and more tempted to climb places I shouldn't climb without extra protection. Seems like a wise investment.
