fic rec (SGA) - The Truth Will Get You Laid

I usually ship Jennifer only with Rodney or sometimes Teyla but after reading this I'm totally ready to board the HMS Cadman/Keller. This story is cute and funny. It's got Jennifer in competent! doctor mode, which I can really never get enough of. And we get to see what's going on in Laura's head (aided by yet another unfortunate incident with Ancient tech).

The Truth Will Get You Laid by [livejournal.com profile] thrace
Cadman/Keller; PG; 3,829 words
Summary: Laura Cadman ends up in the infirmary. A lot.

"Ah, scars are sexy," says Cadman, closing her eyes again. "Do your worst."
"Don't you trust my work?"
"Everyone in this city trusts your work." Jennifer's glad that Cadman can't see her ducking her head in embarrassed gratification. "I'm just saying, if I do happen to end up with a scar, I can make up as many stories as I want about how I got it in the name of national security."
"I won't leave a scar," says Jennifer firmly. "I like your face the way it is."

linkage: How it should have ended: new endings for famous movies. Cool stuff. Really well done.

I need better time management. Ever since [livejournal.com profile] friendshipper introduced me to Fullmetal Alchemist I've been short on time for reading fic and meta, because I'm finding myself actually reading and watching tv in Japanese for the fun of it and it is AWESOME because I'm making progress with the language for the first time in years. It's getting easier to get through the manga too, from one page to the next almost. But it's still slow going. I mean, sloooooow. Incredibly slow. But I finished vol. 23 and have started 24. I learned lots of interesting words that they never teach in class. :)

One reason I want to hurry through the next chapters is that I want to catch up so I don't have to fear spoilers. I already saw hints of Stuff That Happens in 100-104 (wah). (Don't say anything though, I'm unspoiled beyond those vague hints.)

I've realized that I really want to go to Japan, if possible next year.

I can't go climbing atm because I pulled a muscle a few weeks ago during yoga class, and though it feels like a really minor injury it's taking its sweet time to heal. Been three weeks. I can watch my muscles atrophy. At least yesterday at the gym I figured out ways to train my arms without using that specific muscle. And I added a bunch of excercises for back and stomach muscles, which are good for my back, anyway. Glass half full and all that. Still, so unnecessary. I don't ever remember how I hurt it. :/

I'll read almost anything she's written, even if I don't know the fandom.

I am going to rudely ignore your fic (as I don't know SGA), and say -- climbing and yoga? HI!

(Also, have you found [community profile] disobey_gravity and [community profile] sun_salutation yet?)

I believe both comms are open to bitching about enforced time off due to injuries *g*.

I've only been climbing since last summer. It's more fun than anything else I can think of, really.

I only discovered it about a year and a half ago. It was such a revelation to me that there was a sport I could fall in love with!
