Yesterday a hapless backhoe operator severed a fibre optics cable in Dortmund and as a result half my town was without internet and telephone. And it was actually kind of nice. Well, I lost my nerve around six pm and went to a friend's place to check my email. Still, I figured that maybe, as further part of Project Daylight Savings Time, I should try to restrict myself to email while the sun is up. We'll see how that goes.

I made good progress saving daylight: these past four days I was up before 11 am yay. And temperatures are finally subzero so it's no longer rainy and things are looking up for ice skating. We have no hills, we rarely get snow so ice skating is the one thing that I really love about the winter. (And Glühwein, yum.)

I was at my parent's place this weekend and my step mum and I were fooling around with her Mac. I admit, it's shinier than any PC I ever had. Maybe I will switch to Mac in the future. Anyway, the thing has this built-in webcam and you can take pics of yourself and tell it to run it through some crazy filters.

Also, my new computer finally arrived. And Adobe sold me a brand new, shiny, original Photoshop CS4 for a *really* good discount, in exchange for the pirated version I unknowingly bought on ebay. (Yes: I was, at one time, so naive that I thought you could get an old PS 6 version for 50 Euro. I though I made a bargain. Ouch.)
