fic rec (SGA) - The Choices That Damn Us

I just finished a batch of inks. Well, pencils to be exact, which I will xerox onto watercolor paper, skipping the inking stage. I heart technology. *g*

I'm working on three projects right now, but I made good time these past few weeks. That means tomorrow there will be rollerblading, frolicking in the sun, and sketching page 6 of Fear of the Dark. And I still have to fix a few things on page 5. Also, I got fic recs I want to post. And I had an idea for SGA fanart... actually it mostly involves recycling older fanart, but it could turn out pretty neat, worth a try.

Also, there's French class tomorrow... still haven't read my comic for the week /o\. Btw, does anyone know any good French films? I'll have to start listening to native speakers sooner or later. I don't really like melancholy French movies, I'm more looking for something lighthearted like L'auberge espagnole.

Trek: I've read some Start Trek fic and meta over the last week, and watched the movie twice (because the first showing was in German and the dubbing was even more awful than usual). I am intrigued with the whole reboot idea - stroke of genius, really - and I'm feeling not a little bit nostalgic... it's nice (and weird) to revisit my very first fandom. Nonetheless it's more of a casual fanning. I'm back to mainly reading Stargate. :) Still catching up on genficathon too, which brings me to

The Choices That Damn Us by [To Be Revealed]
gen; PG-13; AU; Teyla plus supporting; ~10,000
Prompt: “If my doctor told me I had only six minutes to live, I wouldn't brood. I'd type a little faster.”—Isaac Asimov
Summary: In her last moments, Teyla Emmagen's memories flash back through the path that brought her here, through her discovery of her own identity and the gradual unspooling of the dark and monstrous truth behind the Stargate Program.

Why rec'd: This story comes with the warnings 'character death' and 'fairly dark', which it is, but I urge you not to let that deter you... you'd be missing out on an excellent, intelligent AU. I don't want to tell too much about the story; suffice to say it's a chilling vision of the gateverse gone wrong. It's a story that bears re-reading; there's a lot of food for thought. The pacing and structure work really well, too.

I got two more Dreamwidth invites, would anybody like one?

If you like comics books, can I recommend "Mission Cléopâtre" (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0250223/)? It is based on the Asterix books, but this one is made with actors.
And it's the best of the Asterix movies (IMHO).

Also, they're not French movies, but the French version of the Shrek movies (especially #1 and #2) are really funny.

And I usually hate translated movies...
