(no subject)

Right now I'm celebrating my day off by wasting some time at cakewrecks.com and stumbled over this wreck. Ahhh, I got tears running down my face now.

That is FABULOUS.

I can just picture the cake-maker, knitting her eyebrows together in consternation, then shrugging and thinking, Well, if that's what they WANT...

What puzzles me with this is not so much that this misunderstanding happened as that I'd imagine the process to transfer a photo motif onto a cake to not be manual process like this clearly handdrawn USB stick image is, so there must have been more than one miscommunication.

Oh Dear heavens, this is priceless. And I can see 'exactly' how it all went wrong.

Yeah, good likeness there. *g*

I would've loved to see the look on the customer's face upon unpacking the cake.

The decorator probably just got handed the flashdrive and told, "here, put that on the cake." And he did.

One more cake miscommunication: I want sprinkles (http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/2008/10/sorry-you-cant-have-any.html).

Ah, no more procrastinating at cakewrecks; I got to start sketching my sticksandsnark assignment...

Heh, the sprinkles cake is somehow quite profound in it's way.

With the other one I just assumed that in a cake business that accepts photos to put on cakes, they'd just regularly do the thing with these edible ink cartridges and sheets that work in some printers, because unless you are a superpowered cake decorator any golfer image won't look like a particular person if done by hand (well, maybe in the superexpensive specialty cake price range made by these people who build cake replicas, but not the kind of cake that was shown there, i.e. basic no-frills cake with colored sugar squirted on top, even if the person squirting the sugar is decent at cake pictures), so it would have been kind of pointless to hand in or ask for reference photos unless they do photo images with a printer normally.

Thanks for the link to cakewrecks. It made my Wednesday evenings!
