Comic Con re-verified my professional status. Yay Yay Yay! (Been a teensy bit concerned since I'm never sure whether my field qualifies as 'comics related industry'. Good thing I got some comics work under my belt too, lousily paid as it was.

I can add a guest to my registration - free pass for the duration of the con. No obligation to stick together, we'd just have to meet up once so I can give you the badge. Anyone interested, let me know.

Oh good! I'm glad they finally got it together.

July 24-27. Pre-show or whatsitcalled is on the 23rd. Are you interested? It would be awesome if you could come! (I have to warn you though that getting a plane ticket and accomodation during that week is tricky. But not impossible.)

Yeah, I'm pleased that worked out. Didn't take them long to respond either. (I had to send my work samples by snail mail, therefore the holdup.)

I am definitely interested--and well, I know someone living in San Diego...let me ask her about accomodation!

Cool. Also, I just remembered that we double-booked for part of the time. Definitely for the 25th and 26th. (Those two nights would be at the HI hostel at Point Loma... it's a bit out of the way, but very very nice, right at the beach, and it's only like 28 bucks a night. Cyn reserved two beds, and I got another one.)

Well done! And I'm so pleased to hear that you've been paid to do comic book work because I always find it vaguely depressing when you have uber-talented people such as yourself on LJ but not getting the professional recognition that should go along with it. So yay! :)

Although drawing comics for money in Germany *is* kind of depressing. :P I made more money lettering comics than drawing them; it's ridiculous. Back in the fifties, some educationist wrote a book explaining how reading comics would cause children's brains to leak out of their ears (metaphorically speaking) (will someone think of the children!!1!) and that book managed to cripple our budding comics scene so that nowadays there effectively isn't one.

It's recovered some but that's mainly because of Manga. I'm not keeping track, but it seems like all the new artists here are drawing Manga.

Well, turns out the clever people made their reservations last years, when checking out. This time of year, it's already getting pretty crowded.

Hrgh, my finances don't look so good. *sigh* Feel free to open it up again; I'll just hope there will be more cons in the future.

Ach, schade.

Aber, ja, billig ist das Ganze nicht; vor allem, weil man zur Hochsaison einfach keinen günstigen Flug an die Westküste kriegt.
