I received a question about Bones fic but I'm too out of touch with the fandom so I'm forwarding it to my friends list: Are there any good Bones fanfic archives where authors can upload fic? Back during S2 or so I had pondered making one using the BBFA's code, as that would've required only minor twisting. But then someone else mentioned they wanted to create one, and I'm pretty sure that one went online, but I have no idea what happened to it. So, can anyone recommend an active Bonesfic archive?

Speaking of Bones, why not post some fanart. *g* This scene is part of my cover art for [livejournal.com profile] newscaper's Bones fic Servare Vitas, and I thought it's a shame that the detail gets lost, so here's the scene, zoomed in closer.

Change of topic: [livejournal.com profile] sarahtales has an interesting meta post: Ladies, Please (Carry On Being Awesome)
But there's another question, and that's the audience: I do think all of us tend to be harder on women, even if the women in question are awesome. This is totally natural - the society we live in has plenty of issues about the ladies, and sometimes we don't even know we're being influenced.
Linking because I think the best way to deal with unconscious biases is talk about them, a lot, so we eventually become aware of them. It's much harder to fight an invisible opponent.

I've never seen a zombie movie nor a home improvement show, but I read David H.'s post on his Design of the Dead project the other day, and last night the idea for this movie poster popped into my head, fully-formed... no idea where that even came from. I worked on it non-stop until 4am. I really wish I would get that kind of take-no-prisoners sleep-is-for-the-weak creative rush more often where work for money is concerned.

I went over to the dog's blog to post the link, alas, the site isn't active any more. So I tweeted the link. (I've now been on Twitter for over a month and I still don't get it. How do you express a thought in 140 characters or less?)

I need a new tag for 6 degrees of SGA.

Um, while I'm posting fanart, here is a little Bones icon: season 1 Zack. Snag if you like, no comment necessary.

I got one more illustration for [livejournal.com profile] newscaper's Servare Vitas, this one from chapter 20. [livejournal.com profile] medusa81, I don't know if this is what you had in mind but I hope it's close enough. :)

I was trying to concentrate on work this morning, and out came this sketch of Booth instead. It's like the one time I was standing in line with a friend, getting something to drink, and she was like, "I really should drink less coffee. I drink, like, three liters a day. So I'll have a juice or something now. I won't have coffee, 'cuz it's just not good for me. Coffee, please!"

But hey, you gotta get to know the characters. It's research, is what it is. )

I did a quick illustration* of a scene from [livejournal.com profile] newscaper's fantastic Bones novel 'Servare Vitas'. (If you haven't already read this story, you can find a complete chapter list here. Or read it at ff.net)

Behind the cut lie story spoilers, but no show spoilers )

*The drawing and coloring was quick anyway... processing it on the computer took ages, as my Photoshop Fu is very week indeed.

Aaah, yes. Nothing like a little kerfuffle to clear the air. )
No more meta for at least a week; I haven't even read fanfic in days.

Oh, oh, also... I don't remember if I linked to this already. I found it in the comments of [livejournal.com profile] lim's fantastic meta vid Us: Also a meta vid, but a totally different approach. *g* Check it out: I put you there. It's BtVS but since it's very, very meta it's probably fun even if you're not in the fandom. (By the way, can someone tell me how I get an imeem vid to display in full screen?)

I had a minor case of artist's block. Surefire way to get over that: sketch a few characters. Great warm-up exercise. sketches of Angel, Angelus, and Gunn, and Seeley Booth snuck his way in there, too )
I got other work I should get back to soon, and also page eight of the comic... on the other hand, I still want to draw a sketch of Temperance Brennan kicking some butt. Ah, decisions.

It's not raining non-stop for once, so I'm gonna try my luck and ride into town. Just recently a branch of boesner opened here in town. That's a wholesaler for artist's supplies - it's like Christmas and Birthday in one, I tell you.

Since it is that time of year again I inked and colored that sketch I did ages ago... you may have seen it before but now it's got color! no spoilers within )

Last week I was riding my bike, mulling over a particularly intense chapter of "Servare Vitas" (the Bones fic I've been reading these past weeks; you may have seen me go on and on about mention it) when suddenly inspiration struck. A voice in my head said, no, insisted, You have to make a cover art for this fic! Which is my brain's way of dealing when it's obsessing about something. (Hey, say nothing, I got a diploma thesis out of my X-Files obsesson.)

I suggested it to the author, [livejournal.com profile] newscaper, who, to my delight, was into the idea. Voilà, there be cover art:

And now I shall continue my quest for Bones fic - which is not so much like looking for a needle in a haystack, and more like looking for the haystack.

I wanted to do some facial studies and picked the Bones crew as subjects. To, you know, combine the pleasant with the useless. :o)
Zack, Booth, Angela and Hodgins are behind the cut. )

Lots of Zack ones in here because that guy's not easy to draw. I would've thought you just draw a head of hair and be done but, no.
Brennan and Dr. Goodman are next, maybe a few more of Hodgins and Angela. And maybe those guys from Supernatural. This is so relaxing.

So, I've made good use of my vacation so far. I uploaded 10 new stories to the archive. Down to 64 or so. I got my graphic tablet to work (never again Bluetooth), and managed to do laundry, and went rollerblading, and, and... tomorrow I'll tackle that chaos that is our apartment, which is in an advanced state of entropy.

I have a query: My firefly DVD set is defect, I'm getting error messages for the final two eps. Can't see any scratches, but something's not right. We managed to watch most of 'Heart of Gold' except the end, but now I must get my hands on 'Objects in Space'. I can only find torrents for the complete series and I need just the last one or two eps. If anyone could point me to a place I can download I'd be grateful. Email's vohwink at muenster dot de. (I refuse to call it an illegal download 'cause I paid good money for the bleeding DVD.) [eta: problem solved; much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] litashields]

If anyone tried to email me today... I didn't get any mail. Apparently I'm also not getting any comment notifications. This sucks. Hopefully my mail is just stuck in a queue somewhere.

well, why let a good post go to waste: general Bones thoughts - no spoilers
So the other day I watch Bones 1.4 and 1.5 with the roomie (she actually likes the show, yay) and I just realize: I really, really like Temperance Brennan. I mean, sure, I tuned in because of Boreanaz, but by now I'm not just watching because of him. I find Brennan's ivory-tower cluelessness endearing. And for those who think that level of pop-culture cluelessness in unrealistic, I'd just like to point to my dad (who has this journal bookmarked btw *waves*).

I've seen several people on LJ mention that Bones is borderline Asperger's in her inability to 'get' basic social behaviour from anything other than an analytical viewpoint. Interesting, I wonder if that's what the writers are going for.

I also love the rest of the lab gang. So, a set of characters I'm really starting to care about. Dear writers, don't mess it up! And lose the Angillator... or at least use it very sparingly, thanx. Seriously, in most cases I think it would work much better if they showed a set of calculations intead of a holographic replay based on those calculations. Maybe not as flashy, but more realistic and sense-making.

Okay, I didn't even mean to write this post. I meant to sit at my desk and work on those hundreds of changes my one client asked for. Sigh.

The weather is so nice and sunny, she said. You don't even need to wear a jacket over your t-shirt, she said. *hack*cough* All year, not as much as a sneeze... but right before the Book Fair, I have to go and catch myself a stupid bronchitis. Well, I'm doing the reasonable thing and doing Book Fair Light. Cancelled my appointments for Wednesday, instead catching an early train on Thursday morning*. Ironically, I immediately started to feel better the moment I'd done that. With a little luck, the annoying cough will be mostly gone by Thursday.

On a less whiny note, I've got this silly little comic drabble sketch. (posted to [livejournal.com profile] bones_theseries last week - if you've already seen it there, no need to click.)
